Our students enjoyed learning and sharing music in many different locations this summer. We asked these questions of the participants:

1. What did you most enjoy?
2. Did you see old friends or make new friends?
3. Would you recommend this activity to your T.A.S.T.E. friends?

10-year-old boy attending Greater Washington Suzuki Institute in Arlington, VA

1. I enjoyed every part of the Institute. I got to play in orchestra, learn Music Mind Games and had a really nice Master Teacher: Stephanie Sims-Flack. I was nominated to play in an honors recital and that has been my dream since I first went to the Institute years ago.
2. Yes! I did both. There is a family that I enjoy seeing every year and I made new friends, too!
3. Absolutely! It was really fun.

1. I enjoyed seeing my child play music with children and excellent teachers from all different parts of the United States.

1. I enjoyed the classes with crazy Dr. Durbin and I really liked the Fiddling classes and also my performance class. The teachers were nice and really fun. I loved the orchestra music.
2. I made two new friends named Mary and Frances. And I played with old friends too. I would recommend this Institute because of the social activities such as the art class, ice cream social, pizza party and riverboat cruise. I liked having plenty of time to play with friends during breaks and in the outside courtyard at the dorm.

1. She most enjoyed learning shifting in her lessons and making slime at arts and crafts time.
2. She made new friends and saw old friends and thought the counselors were really fun. It was also her first time playing in a chamber music group reading notes.

These are some photos of our ECU Institute. We lucked out that we didn’t have to start the day so early. The commute was 40 minutes from our camp site! That was really fun! Maya got to do Chamber music for the first time. One of her favorite classes was advanced orchestra. She also was asked to play a solo recital. Institute was fun. We made many new friends and reconnected with old ones. Camping at Goose Creek State Park during the Institute added another flavor to the whole experience.
